Restorative yoga is an experience in relaxation, awareness, and stillness.  In this yoga class the usual emphasis on proper alignment and the "right" way to do yoga postures is for the most part absent; instead the focus is on relaxation and on bringing awareness to sensations in the body and the breath which invites one to become more aware of and in the present moment.

The class starts with simple, gentle, flowing movements and then progresses into deeper states of meditation, stillness, and relaxation with the use of props to support the body with some postures being held for as long as ten minutes or more. The class concludes with Yoga Nidra, a deep guided relaxation experience that can be the doorway to deeper spiritual and meditative states of awareness.

This class is great for those who are new to yoga, recovering from injuries or trauma, seeking stress relief, restoring their bodies from a more vigorous practice, as well as those interested in exploring stillness and starting a meditation practice.  Restorative yoga is truly yoga for every body.
